Abstract:
This work is concerned with H.264, which is the
latest video coding standard. This standard suggests a high complexity encoder
with improved coding efficiency as compared to the previous standards. Due to
its functional complexity it is a challenging job to come up with a real time
implementation of H.264 exploiting its advanced tools for enhanced compression
efficiency. Improved algorithms, optimizations and computation resource
enhancement are in focus for it. This thesis work focuses on R&D of fast but
efficient prediction and decision algorithms for a real time H.264 codec.
